A 6.2 magnitude aftershock has been reported approximately 60km north of the city of Dumaguete, located in the Negros Oriental province. This is the second significant earthquake to occur in the region since a 6.8 magnitude earthquake was reported approximately 72km north of Dumaguete earlier on 6 February.

An ongoing outbreak of dengue fever in Indonesia's Lampung province has killed more than ten people since the beginning of 2012, a further estimated 950 people are infected. Areas worst affected by the outbreak include North Lampung, South Lampung, Pesawaran, Metro and Pringsewu. The disease has also affected East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province where five people have died and at least 282 others are infected. The worst affected areas in NTT province are Kuanino, Oetete, Oesapa, Kelapa Lima, as well as Pasir Panjang and Oebobo subdistricts.Symptoms of dengue fever usually occur within three to 14 days of receiving a bite from an infected Aedes mosquito, and include a high fever, severe headache, backache, joint pain, nausea, vomiting, eye pain and rash.

The wildfire, which did not cause any significant damage or casualties, is currently under control. The cause of the fire is not known.
